The meals were out stunning and the service was outstanding. This quaint establishment has so much to offer to any foodie out there.
My boyfriend and I spent a weekend getaway in the area at the end of October. As I was looking for places to have dinner, this restaurant caught my eye. From the raving reviews and epic menu choices, we decided to go here. I was a bit nervous as we've been to other restaurants with similar ravings reviews on Yelp but ended up being disappointed. My nervousness vanished after sitting in the restaurant. We were also warned by other foodies about the wait but didn't mind as we knew it was Halloweekend and was expected. It was a Saturday at around 8pm. There were lots of people out but street parking wasn't hard to find. We walked over and added our names to the list. The hostess shared it would be a 35 - 45 minute wait so we stood with the other groups. To note, if you are a smaller party, you'd probably be seated earlier than that as it happened to us. We were seated in about 25 minutes! I loved how the restaurant was decorated. It was simple--intimate. My only con was it took a bit for us to receive our water and get our orders in but it was a busy night so it made sense. We ordered everything to share as we ate a fairly big lunch (ramen in SF). Appetizer: Brussel Sprouts: We are huge fans. So flavorful, crispy, and cooked perfectly. We find that some restaurants tend to burn their brussel sprouts so the burnt taste became the focal point, but we were impressed by the lack of smoke flavor in the dish. 10/10. Mac-N-Cheese: This was such a treat. It included mycopia mushrooms and truffle breadcrumbs. It wasn't too heavy and was our perfect size to share. The addition of the mushrooms was so clever as it added some textural difference. We had no issues with this dish either. 9/10. Main Course: Pot Roast: The tender beef was on the sweeter side which we both enjoyed. The creme fraiche was the perfect final touch. They also added carrots and broccolini. Our only con was the parsnip mashed potatoes. It had a chemical-like aftertaste. 8/10. Perfect size for 2. Dessert: Bread Pudding: I forgot to get a photo but this was so delicious and the perfect way to end the evening. 9/10. Overall-- service was great and the food was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend and I are not usually ones to say that we enjoyed every single dish we've had from a particular restaurant but this place is a diamond in the rough. Brava.
Had two meals on a recent visit to the Russian River area. Had the little gems salad both visits - simple, delicious fresh little gems dressed in a green goddess style creamy dressing and accented with chopped Marcona almonds, chopped dried black olives and a little avocado. Really nice, tasty, balanced salad. Also had the seared black cod and thoroughly enjoyed it. Perfectly cooked (though, of course, hard to overcook black cod). Served atop some largeish white beans that were perfectly seasoned and a "fennel broth" with small bits of fennel in a simple but delicious broth. Had the burrata small plate the other night with the salad. Nice presentation with pesto. I wasn't a huge fan of the bread served with it. It was nicely toasted but was a fairly light "white" bread, and something a little heartier, perhaps a sourdough country bread would have been more my speed. Service was attentive, friendly and professional. Space was simple but relaxing. Really enjoyed my meals there and it will definitely get a return visit next time I'm in the area.
Nice little restaurant for lunch- they had good food and service. We ordered the burgers and a side of mac and cheese. The burgers were well cooked and seasoned well- I enjoyed the pickled onions. The fries were tasty and the Mac and cheese was delicious. All of the food was on point.
We had dinner on Saturday at boon eat + drink and the place was very well visited! We felt really lucky to have a table for us! The service was very friendly and helpful to answer questions. I had the vegan bowl, which was like a broth soup with freshly sautéed green veggies plus beans. It was delicious, very well seasoned and felt like a hug in a bowl. My husband had a burger with fries that was also good. I tried his fries and they were crunchy from the outside and soft from the inside with a hint of truffle oil flavor. I highly recommend this place!
I wasn't particularly hungry but Boon is so cute and I wanted a salad so we are sitting outside enjoying the breeze! The waitress is adorable and she let us bring our own wine from Eqality and didn't charge us a corkage fee. The food is solid and I really loved the Brussels sprouts that are gluten free!!
Everyone was very nice. Restaurant was quaint and they don't take reservations, so get there early. The cab franc paired great with the pork shoulder entree. The pork was heavenly. It just fell apart and went great with the polenta. Burrata had a great pesto base. The steak came with vegetables and nice sized roasted potatoes. Prob the best restaurant in town. Highly recommend. Nice job Chef Crista
We visited boon eat + drink on a Saturday evening, expecting a long wait, since they don't take reservations. Our party of 5 was given a 40 minute wait estimate, which gave us time to grab a drink at Rainbow Cattle Company in the meantime. The wait time was very accurate and we were seated inside as soon as we returned. The restaurant was tiny, and seemingly split into two little rooms. Ours had minimal decor and a simple, modern vibe. For drinks, I got a Sparkling Lemonade (bottled), which was tasty. For food, I chose the Moroccan Chicken, and we got an order of the boon Mac & Cheese to share as a group. The Moroccan Chicken was good but not life changing - it had all the right ingredients, but somehow just wasn't that memorable. The portion size was generous though, and I ended up taking half of it home. The boon Mac & Cheese was delicious and I loved the truffle breadcrumbs on top. We probably could've ordered two of these to share between the 5 of us. My friends got the Cioppino (pretty good), Halibut (again, just good), Polenta Lasagna (very tasty, such a unique dish), and the Oak Ridge Angus Flat Iron Steak. While the steak was cooked perfectly, it was really under-seasoned. The Truffle Fries it came with were great though! Overall, we enjoyed this dinner, but it didn't blow our minds.
Highly recommend boon eat + drink! We heard that if we come around 6-7pm on the weekend that there would be a long wait. We went about 10 minutes after opening on Sunday evening, and there were already 2 tables seated. The staff were so nice and attentive. There are two sections to the restaurant: indoors and a covered, heated patio area (they provide blankets). My only small complaint is that some of the tables are close together--I guess that really adds to the cozy vibe. The food was outstanding! In each dish, the different components of the dish balanced each other so well (sweetness + salty + tartness). That made the dishes feel less heavy. Appetizers: *BURRATA cranberry compote | pears | spiced walnuts | grilled bread 9/10 *CAULIFLOWER | sriracha vinaigrette | currant | sesame 8/10 (they ran out of brussel sprouts but the cauliflower was delicious) Mains: *seared DUCK BREAST | cauliflower puree | apricot marmalade | fried kale | pomegranate glaze 10000/10 *chili braised niman PORK shoulder | creamy polenta | fiesta slaw | ricotta salata + pepitas 7/10 They also had an assortment of alcohol to pair with your food :)
